Citations

When Nimaya answers from your content, it shows which page the answer came from — a small link under the reply.

Why it matters

• Trust. A visitor can check the answer against the source rather than taking it on faith.
• Debugging. When an answer is wrong, you see which page misled the assistant, and fix the page.
• Traffic. Visitors follow the link deeper into your site instead of dead-ending in the widget.

When they appear

Only when the answer is actually grounded in your content. If retrieval finds nothing above the confidence threshold, Nimaya gives your fallback message and shows no sources.

This is deliberate. A citation under every reply — including ones the assistant did not draw from your content — would train visitors to ignore them, which defeats the point.

What you will see

• At most three sources under an answer.
• One entry per page. Several passages from the same page are collapsed into a single link.
• Ordered by relevance — the passage that best matched comes first.
• Titles are derived from the URL, so /help/shipping-info reads as Shipping Info.

Getting better citations

Citations are as good as your URLs. A page at /page-42 produces a citation reading “Page 42”. Descriptive paths give descriptive citations, with no extra configuration.

Citations come from crawled pages and uploaded documents that carry a source URL. Content pasted directly as text has no URL, so it is used in answers but cannot be cited.
